A Perfect Empire (poem)

Monday, July 5, 2010

There was one bit of land afloat
Where aether, not water, was it's moat;
No war tore it, no tragedy scarred
A perfect empire, pure, unmarred.

Life stole no grieving tear,
Neither these people believed in fear;
Love and love alone was spent,
Forever, to greatness, it was meant.

For one brief time, all seemed well
Until to the icy waters it fell.
The perfect empire that all believed,
Only in the imagination was it weaved.

Pace of life now seemed too quick,
Where once a space, now with a brick.
Where love was all, now fear is king;
Love fell and frozen, with broken wing.

Many inches had been unbound,
For this paradise to be found.
Now where is it? If it's true
It's just here, but first let's build it.
me and you.
